Property managers celebrated amid localised lockdowns

On the second annual National Property Managers Day, the Real Estate Institute of Australia applauded the key role that is played by property managers — especially in light of ongoing lockdowns.

In expressing his gratitude to property managers, REIA president Adrian Kelly highlighted the challenges they have been facing through the latest wave of lockdowns.

“There are an estimated 2.7 million rentals in Australia, with 80 per cent of these properties managed by our property managers,” Mr Kelly said.

“Approximately 27 per cent of Australians live in private rentals paying $49 billion per annum.”

Championing equality

Referring to property managers as the pillar of the real estate industry, Mr Kelly also underscored the role property managers have played in championing gender equality in the profession.

He said: “Many people don’t realise that women make up 67 per cent of the property management workforce and that these property managers can be at the forefront of dealing with social issues like domestic violence.”

He noted the occasion as “about thanking all of our property managers for the role that they play in helping Australians into homes — especially in the current phase of the COVID-19 pandemic we are facing”.
